Assembly grant for Stow Park Church
Stow Park Church in Newport is to benefit from a major £98,811 funding boost, thanks to a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.
Rosemary has welcomed the news as a shot in the arm for community life and the local economy.
The Assembly's Community Facilities and Activities Programme funding will lead to the construction of a new community centre at Stow Park to replace the existing hall. The church¹s congregation formerly the Newport United Reform Church has now amalgamated with the congregation of the Stow Park Presbyterian Chapel and it was decided that the old church hall was too old and unusable and that a modern multi-purpose building was needed to replace it.
Rosemary said:
³This is great news and I¹m delighted that they have been successful in their application for this funding. The new project will help to provide local facilities for local people which will in turn sustain and develop community life. I¹d like to congratulate the church for taking this far sighted move.²
The project is one of 46 across Wales to benefit from the latest round of the Welsh Assembly Government¹s Community Facilities and Activities Programme. In total, £7 million is being invested in these 46 projects over three financial years.
