YELL CALL CENTRE A "TREMENDOUS BOOST"

Newport West AM Rosemary Butler has welcomed the news that the Yellow Pages directory have chosen Usk House on the George Street site in her constituency as the location for their new call centre.

She says: "I'm thrilled that a prestigious business like this is coming to to the heart of Newport. It will provide  valuable jobs and boost the confidence of those who are working to establish the city as a major industrial and business centre.

"The choice of Usk House, with its riverside location and transport links, is a splendid New Year present for Newport and will help the George Street site to realise its full potential.

"The £910,000 which is being spent by the Welsh Assembly to bring these jobs to Newport will be money well spent, and will be seen as a major step in the Newport urban regeneration programme."

*Yell, the Yellow Pages directory enquiry service, will bring 250 jobs to Newport over the next four years. The move is part of a £3.5m development, partly financed by a regional selective assistance grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.
