Newport West AM Rosemary Butler has  accused Plaid Cymru of adopting a blinkered approach towards the 2010 Ryder Cup in Newport.

In response to criticism by Plaid Cymru about the amount of public money being used to improve the road system in the Celtic Manor area, she said:

"The 2010 event will be one of the biggest sporting events that Wales has seen.It'll be good for Newport, and for Welsh Tourism as a whole.

And the spin off for other Welsh golf courses such as the Royal Porthcawl, the North Wales Golf Club at Llandudno and the Tenby Golf Club will be enormous.I am amazed at the blinkered  approach shown by Plaid Cymru for criticising the Welsh Assembly Government's plans to improve access to the Celtic Manor ."
