Newport West AM, Rosemary Butler, who's also Deputy Presiding Officer in the National Assembly, was one of the first members to be introduced to the Queen during today's Royal Opening. She also helped to lead the procession of AMs, officials and visitors into the Senedd at the start of the ceremony. She said: "I was delighted to be so closely involved with this particular Royal Opening. I think we'll look back on the day as an historic occasion. "From now on, of course, the Assembly will be able to make its own laws and - as the Queen put it - it's up to the AMs to adopt the right approach and enhance the reputation of the Assembly. "I was particularly glad that the Queen urged the Assembly to work with young people to improve their understanding of how the body works. It's certainly something which I will try to do as Deputy Presiding Officer."
